Problem Statement

Create an engaging and informative museum exhibit to educate visitors about the concept of cybercrime, its various forms, and how it is perpetrated in modern society.

UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

According to SDG 11, More than half of humanity – 4.2 billion people live in cities today, and by 2030, it is estimated that six out of ten people will be city dwellers.

By 2030, the world is projected to have 43 megacities with more than 10 million inhabitants each, most of them in developing regions. 

India has 433 Million internet users in 2019

Of the total user base, 87 percent or 493 million Indians, are defined as regular users, having accessed the internet in the last 30 days. Nearly 293 million active internet users reside in urban India, while there are 200 million active users in rural India.

It projected double-digit growth for 2019 and estimates that the number of internet users will reach 627 million by the end of this year.

We gathered information about the working and policies regading cybercrime. and interviewes 13 stakeholders from differnt fields like NGOs, Police, Lawyers, Private companies, and ethical hackers. 

The research was done in collaboration with:

  • National Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, GJ

  • Cyberra Law Firm, Ahmedabad, GJ

Who are the criminals?

  • The cybercriminals can be someone who has a technical background in IT and has an intent to do malicious activities for their personal gain. They are:

  • The cybercriminals can also be people who do not have a background in IT but use technology and devices as a medium to commit crime. They are:

      1. Family Members

      2. Romantic Partners

      3. Revenge Seekers

  • The victims can be people who have been involved in online activities. They are:

1. Social Butterflies: People who are involved in a lot of social media applications. 

2. Curious Fools: People who go into restricted or dark web platforms out of curiosity.

  • The victims can also be people who just own a digital device and are not involved much in online activities. 

Survey

We questioned students from our college, staff, friends and families to collect data. The aim was to gather information about the notion of cybercrime and safety in online activities.

Cyber Theft

The gallery would contain immersive exhibits and installations that would give information about Cyber theft and how impersonation on the internet works. 

Awareness Gallery

The audience will be able to listen, read and watch various content related to cybercrimes and would also get information on cyber security with the help of experts.

Short Film: Beautiful People

A short motion graphic film was created to spread awareness about cybercrime and security. The narration uses sarcastic comments on day-to-day activities of people that might lead to a cyber crime.
